Preventing Sinusitis

To avoid developing sinusitis during a cold or allergy attack, keep your sinuses clear by:

  • Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant
  • To keep nasal discharge thin, you can use this technique: gently blow your nose and block one nostril by blowing through the other
  • Avoiding air travel. If you must fly, use a nasal spray decongestant before take-off to prevent blockage of the sinuses allowing mucus to drain
  • If you have allergies try to avoid contact with substances that trigger attacks

Allergy testing, followed by appropriate allergy treatments, may increase your tolerance of allergy-causing substances.

Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria.

It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants.

Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication.

Sinusitis Infection Treatment

Sinusitis is an infection in the nasal cavities.  The infection begins when the typical swelling in the sinus cavity lining that goes along with allergies and colds, gets attacked by bacteria and as a result becomes more inflamed to the point that the bacteria and mucus can not drain by way of the cilia.  Some of the many symptoms of sinusitis infections are Green nasal discharge, congestion, postnasal drip, headache, and facial pain.   When a sinus infection lasts more than twelve weeks, it is considered chronic.  The same symptoms can continue and patients may become fatigued.  Some medications may also cause sinus infections such as aspirin and topical nasal decongestants.

There are many treatment forms for sinusitis infections.  A typical treatment for sinusitis is nasal sprays.  With nasal sprays, it is difficult for a sufficient amount of the medication to travel into the sinus cavity, due to its large particle size.  Oral antibiotics are also commonly used.  Antibiotics enter the blood stream and travel through it to the area of infection.  In the sinus cavity there are very few blood cells, so the antibiotic cannot fight the infection to its full extent.  When nasal sprays and oral antibiotics fail the patient, many physicians will give the patient sinus surgery.  In sinus surgery, only part of the inflammation and infection is cleaned out, consequently, the infection usually returns and the patient may need another surgery.

Sinus Dynamics antibiotics, anti-fungals, and anti-inflammatories are an innovative nebulized form of treatment.  The Sinus Dynamics program works differently.  Sinus Dynamics medication is nebulized directly into the sinus cavity easily and quickly due to the 3.2 micron particle size.  Sinus Dynamics medications enter the blood stream at the area of infection, instead of traveling throughout the whole body like other treatments.  There are little to no side effects since the small amount of topical medication works only in the blood vessels in the sinus cavities.  With Sinus Dynamics 98% success rate, it is the most safe and effective form of treatment for sinus infections.
