Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection
It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants. Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication. |
Sinusitis is an inflammatory condition of the sinus cavities. Sinusitis begins when there is existing swelling in the sinus cavities from a cold or allergy. When bacteria get into the sinus cavities and attack the already swollen cavity lining, nasal polyps are then formed causing the bacteria and mucus to become trapped. The cilia then can no longer flush out the bacteria and mucus and the infection begins. There are many symptoms of a sinusitis infection which may include postnasal drip, green nasal discharge, cough, congestion, and facial pain and pressure. A patient may also have difficulty breathing through the nose since the polyps are obstructing the nasal airway.
There are many different treatments for sinusitis. Often a physician will prescribe oral antibiotics to treat many types of infections. Oral antibiotics work on infections by traveling through the blood stream to the infected area. However, the sinus cavities only have a small amount of blood vessels, so it is difficult for an efficient amount of medication to be delivered to the sinus cavities. Prescribed and over the counter nasal sprays are also used. Nasal sprays may only offer relief to the lower part of the sinuses since they have a large particle size which is too large to make it past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities and up to the sinusitis infection.
Sinus Dynamics is the most innovative form of treatment for a sinusitis infection. Sinus Dynamics antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and anti-fungals are used in a nebulized form, making it simple for the 3.2 micron particles to make their way through the polyp at the opening of the sinus cavity, and strait to the sinusitis infection. Sinus Dynamics nebulized antibiotics are much more effective than oral antibiotics since they are directly nebulized into the sinusitis infection. There are little to no side effects since a small amount of Sinus Dynamics topical medication is used. Sinus Dynamics has a 98% success rate in patients which clearly shows that it is the safest and most successful treatment for a sinusitis infection.
