Preventing Sinusitis

To avoid developing sinusitis during a cold or allergy attack, keep your sinuses clear by:

  • Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant
  • To keep nasal discharge thin, you can use this technique: gently blow your nose and block one nostril by blowing through the other
  • Avoiding air travel. If you must fly, use a nasal spray decongestant before take-off to prevent blockage of the sinuses allowing mucus to drain
  • If you have allergies try to avoid contact with substances that trigger attacks

Allergy testing, followed by appropriate allergy treatments, may increase your tolerance of allergy-causing substances.

Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria.

It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants.

Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication.

Sinusitis Saline Nasal Spray

Sinusitis is caused by a blockage of bacteria and mucus in the sinus cavity.  The sinusitis begins when a person has existing swelling from a cold or allergy which gets attacked by bacteria and as a result, greater inflammation occurs.  When this amount of inflammation takes place, the cilia then can no longer flush out the bacteria and mucus and the sinusitis infection begins.  There are several symptoms of sinusitis which may include congestion, cough, facial pain and pressure, green nasal discharge, and postnasal drip.  When sinusitis lasts for twelve weeks or more then it is considered chronic and may have added symptoms such as loss of sense of taste and smell and the person with the sinusitis may become fatigued.

There are numerous treatments for sinusitis.  One such form of treatment is a saline nasal spray.  The saline nasal spray treatment is typically un-medicated and they are usually used just to moisten the dry nostrils.  The saline nasal sprays are also meant to moisten the cilia so that it may start working correctly again to flush out the bacteria and mucus.  Unfortunately, the saline nasal spray will not be able to offer any relief inside of the sinus cavities since their particle size is too large to make it past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities and up to the sinusitis infection.  Saline nasal sprays are best used against nose bleeds and other similar medical conditions.

Sinus Dynamics program works differently to fight sinusitis than a saline nasal spray and other treatment forms.  Sinus Dynamics uses nebulized, topical antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and anti-fungals in a 3.2 micron size to work quickly and easily to get through the inflammation and into the sinusitis infection.  Since this innovative treatment uses topical medications, there is less of a chance of the medication traveling through out the blood stream and into the rest of the body.  Sinus Dynamics 98% success rate clearly shows that it is the safest and most effective form of treatment for sinusitis infections.
