Sinusitis Treatment

Sinusitis is a condition caused by a blockage of bacteria and mucus in the sinus cavities.  This blockage occurs when a person has existing inflammation from a cold or allergy which becomes attacked by the bacteria that get into the sinus cavities and as a result, greater inflammation occurs.  In normal functioning sinus cavities, the cilia washes out bacteria and mucus, but when there is a great amount of inflammation the cilia can no longer do its job and the blockage and infection start.  There are many symptoms of sinusitis which can include postnasal drip, cough, congestion, green nasal discharge, and facial pain and pressure.  When the sinusitis lasts for twelve weeks or more, it is considered chronic and can have additional symptoms such as loss of sense of taste and smell and the person may become fatigued.
