Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection
It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants. Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication. |
Sinusitis is an inflammation condition of the sinus cavities. Sinusitis begins when a person has a cold or an allergy which causes swelling of the sinus cavity lining. When bacteria get into the sinus cavities and attack the swollen lining, greater inflammation occurs. This large amount of inflammation affects the cilia by causing it to no longer flush out the trapped bacteria and mucus, and so the sinusitis begins. There are several symptoms of sinusitis which usually includes cough, congestion, facial pain and pressure, green nasal discharge, and post nasal drip.
There are many different treatments for sinusitis. Commonly, a physician will prescribe oral antibiotics. Oral antibiotics work on many types of infections by flowing through the blood stream to the infected area. In the sinus cavities though, there are only a small amount of blood vessels so it is difficult for an effective amount of medication to be delivered to the sinusitis infection. Another treatment that a person may use is irrigation using a waterpik. Irrigation works by inserting the waterpik into the nasal passage and using saline solution to flush out the mucus. The problem with waterpik irrigation however, is that it is messy and it cannot cure the sinusitis since saline solution alone cannot rid the patient of the infection since no antibiotic is included in the wash.
Sinus Dynamics is the most innovative form of treatment for sinusitis. Sinus Dynamics antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and anti-fungals are used in a nebulized form, making it simple for the 3.2 micron particles to make their way through the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavity, and strait to the sinusitis infection. Sinus Dynamics nebulized antibiotics are much more effective than oral antibiotics since they are directly nebulized into the infection. There are little to no side effects since a small amount of Sinus Dynamics topical medication is used. Sinus Dynamics has a 98% success rate in patients which clearly shows that it is the safest and most successful treatment for sinusitis.
