Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection
It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants. Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication. |
A sinusitis infection is a blockage of bacteria and mucus in the sinus cavities. The sinusitis infection begins when a person has existing swelling of the sinus cavity walls, usually caused by a cold or allergy. When bacteria attack the already swollen cavity walls, greater inflammation occurs and the cilia then can no longer wash out the bacteria and mucus and sinusitis infection begins. There are several symptoms of a sinusitis infection which may include cough, congestion, postnasal drip, green nasal discharge, and facial pain and pressure. When the sinusitis infection lasts for twelve weeks or more, it considered chronic and may have added symptoms such as loss of sense of smell and taste, and the patient may become fatigued.
There are many treatments for a sinusitis infection. One of the most common treatments is over the counter and prescribed nasal sprays. Nasal sprays will only offer relief the lower part of the sinuses, since their particle size is too large to make it past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavity and up to the sinusitis infection. Oral antibiotics are also frequently prescribed. Oral antibiotics work on infections by flowing through the blood stream to the area of infection. In the sinus cavities however, there are only a few blood vessels so and efficient amount of medication cannot be delivered to the sinusitis infection. Sinus surgery is usually preformed after all other means of treatment have failed. Sinus surgery is painful and usually only offers temporary relief since they only remove only a portion of the infection and inflammation.
Sinus Dynamics is the most innovative form of treatment for sinusitis infections. Sinus Dynamics antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and anti-fungals are used in a nebulized form, making it simple for the 3.2 micron particles to make their way through the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavity, and strait to the sinusitis infection. Sinus Dynamics nebulized antibiotics are much more effective than oral antibiotics since they are directly nebulized into the sinusitis infection. There are little to no side effects since a small amount of Sinus Dynamics topical medication is used. Sinus Dynamics has a 98% success rate in patients which clearly shows that it is the safest and most successful treatment for a sinusitis infection.
